Brides in Morocco wear these large silver and amber necklaces. The silver beads, symbolizing purity and honesty, are hollow so the necklace is not as heavy as it looks. The amber is made of thermal plastic and is also called "African Amber". This faux amber is very common today and is considered just as valuable as natural amber by most African people. For more information see "Africa Adorned" by Angela Fisher page 226.
